OpenTendo Kit - Front Loader
OpenTendo Kit - Front Loader
The OpenTendo is an open source replacement main board for the NES "Front Loader" model NES-001 by Redherring32. Full details can be found at https://github.com/Redherring32/OpenTendo
Component Kit Options
None: Opentendo board only. You will need to source all the required components to complete the build.
No RAM: Opentendo board + a component kit that includes most of the parts required to complete the build (details below).
Complete: Opentendo board + component kit + two new SRAM modules (details below).
The component kit includes brand new parts for as many components as possible. Unfortunately, some of the components used in the NES are now either difficult to source, or simply have no new production being made. Some components will need to be harvested from an original NES to complete this build. It's possible that New Old Stock (NOS) or reclaimed parts can be found on the Internet in various marketplaces for the missing components should you wish to take that route.
The components not included in the kit are:
- U5 Picture Processing Unit (PPU) Part# RP2C02
- U6 Central Processing Unit (CPU) Part# RP2A03
- U10 CIC (The famous Lockout Chip)
- DA1 & DA3 Diode Array Part# DAN601
- DA2 & DA4 Diode Array Part# UPA64H
- Q1 Transistor Part# 2SA937
- Q2 & Q3 Transistor Part# 2SC2021
- P6 5 pin Connector (Blue connector for the power switch board)
The RAM options adds two new SRAM modules to the kit. This is an optional add-on as SRAM can also be harvested from an original NES for the build. The SRAM used in the NES is no longer being manufactured so these modules are becoming increasingly harder to source. It's more cost effective for you to harvest SRAM from the same NES that you harvest the above parts from, but should you need new SRAM modules for whatever reason this option is available.
